The Museum of Prehistory
The Museum of Prehistory in Valencia is a world-class archaeology museum which presents the evolution of human society in the Valencia region from the arrival of early human ancestors. The galleries are presented in a temporal order so that developments in technology and the arts are clearly shown.
Starting in the Paleolithic era, the museum has a tremendous collection of rock carvings over 20,000 years old. Walking through the galleries the visitor is taken through the Neolithic, Iberian, Greek, Roman and Visigoth periods with artifacts that are among the finest examples in existence.
The museum has the world’s most extensive collection of Iberian writing, preserved on lead sheets, which predates Greek writing and has never been deciphered!
