The Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden belongs to the University of Valencia and is dedicated to research and conservation of over 4500 species of trees and plants from five continents.
Reports of medicinal plants dating back to the sixteenth century, related to the teaching of medicine at the university have been written here since 1462.
The concept of a botanical garden happened in parallel to the development of the study of botany as an independent science of medicine, which happened in the eighteenth century.
Currently, along with the preservation of the historical garden, the it has an important objective of continuing as a center for study, research and the development of botanic culture.
The Botanical Garden is a scientific and educational space which participates in international projects related to plant biodiversity and the study of native plants.
