The mountain separates the basins of the rivers Palancia in the north and Turia in south. Its interior hides fascinating forests of oaks and white pines and various flora micro-reserves.
The soils are rich and balanced in relation to the climate, vegetation and geological substrate. Plants of great botanical interest and the diverse wildlife of Sierra Calderona can be found while hiking these beautiful surroundings.
In the village of Sierra the remains of medieval towers such as Torre del Señor or Torreta de Satarena can be admired.. Also there is the castle ruins of Alt del Pi, dating from the eighth century, a medieval architecture of Islamic origin.
