The Gallery of Tossal
Often overlooked among the bars and vintage shops of El Carmen, the Gallery of Tossal is a small but impressive facility which proudly displays the well-preserved remains of an Arabic defensive wall from 1000 A.D. It was the Moors who actually first set the layout of the city of Valencia and El Carmen was one of the main quarters, which this gallery shows.
The Gallery reveals an entire section of fortifications, as well as gives clear explanations on posters in Spanish and English. The amazing thing is that the Gallery is under the Plaza of Tossal!
Located just a few minutes walk from the Plaza of the Virgin, the Gallery of Tossal will surprise and impress the visitor with the depth and history it communicates. In addition the Gallery hosts a revolving collection of contemporary art exhibitions which make an entertaining contrast to the architectural remains around it. The Gallery of Tossal is one of the many tourist sites in Valencia which are sure to be awe-inspiring and memorable.
